Myrtle K. Scism has newspaper clippings concerning train wreck, including
vivid glossy photographs. Clippings are from Albany Times Union, Thursday,
10 Dec 1942. Concerns wreck of Delaware and Husdon train outside Schenectady,
and search for body of Harvey (Red) Scism; engineer, a large man weighing
about 400 lbs. Crash occurred 4:20PM Weds. Another clipping says Harvey
Scism, 60 yr. old former Waterford resident. Funeral at Our Lady of Angels
Church, Whitehall, and burial in Whitehall cemetery. Survived by widow:
Evelyn Vadney Scism of Whitehall, two daughters: Mrs. Kenneth Terry of
Whitehall, Mrs. Evelyn Scism, Freeport LI, son: Ormonde S. Scism, Stockport,
sister: Mrs. Elizabeth O'Connor of Waterford. Another clipping: Mr. Scism
was elected Whitehall Village trustee in 1931 and served 2 years. Was also
fire commissioner during his membership on bd. of trustees.
