Eliza Augur married
Daniel Stark in 1816.
The marriage was reported in the
Connecticut Herald, Connecticut Journal, New Haven Post-boy
for 30 April 1816, the Connecticut Mirror for 6 May 1816, and
the American Mercury and Hartford Courant
for 7 May 1816.
According to
Edwin P. Augur,
Daniel and Eliza had three children:
- Emily Stark,
born 21 February 1817, married
25 December 1831,
Isaac M. Stevens,
had seven children, died 27 September 1853.
- William L. Stark,
born 13 June 1820, married 8 June 1841,
Ann Linsley of Branford,
had one child, died 1879.
- Isaac Augur Stark,
born 1 July 1822, died 9 May 1867
(see here for more details).
A divorce was granted to
Eliza Stark in January 1837, on grounds of desertion.
She married again, to
Isaac Tuttle in 1843.
I don't know what happened to Daniel Stark after the divorce.
I have tried to find out, in the hopes of locating definite information
about his parents. A Daniel Stark, shoemaker, died in New London,
CT of dropsy on 20 October 1861 at 66 years of age.
The 1860 census for New London mentions that Daniel Stark, 66 years old
and presumably the same as the person who died the next year,
owned some real estate and was married to Francis Stark.
However, I have searched the probate index, and I have not found anything
about him.
The marriage of Emily Stark appears in the New Haven Vital Records,
LDS Film 1405858,
vol. 4, p. 108:
- Married in New Haven, 25 December 1831, Isaac M. Stephens of
New Haven, Connecticut and Emily A. Starks of New Haven, Connecticut,
by Noah Levings, minister of the gospel in the Methodist
Episcopal Church.
